Fines

If you have been found ‘guilty’ of a crime, the court may impose a monetary amount that you must pay as a penalty for an offence you have committed.
Monetary fines are typically utilised as a sanction for less serious offences such as summary and traffic offences. Fines may be imposed by themselves or as an additional penalty to any good behaviour bonds (e.g. community service, periodic detention, etc.), except for section 10 dismissals: s14 of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act 1999 (NSW).

One penalty unit is currently equivalent to $110. A fine cannot exceed more than 1000 penalty units.
